Affiliate Marketing On TikTok [Make Money with TikTok]

Estimated reading time: 6 minutes

Is affiliate marketing on TikTok viable? Well, since TikTok affiliate marketing works a lot like any other platform, it’s a resounding YES!

Anywhere there are people to buy stuff, affiliate marketers can succeed in such places, even making thousands of dollars. And Tiktok, right from its rise to fame, has been one of such fertile grounds.

Though the most wave has almost been about half-nude upcoming celebrities, it’s still not a platform for only curvy twerk dancers rather, it can be just another secret low-hanging riped fruit ready to be plucked by the next internet-business tycoons.

About TikTok Briefly

Briefly, TikTok is a young short-clip video-sharing social media app officially launched for worldwide access in 2018.

The videos shared on this platform are usually 15 seconds (minimum) -to 3 mins max and can be on everything from dance, comedy, education, etc.

Since its original release in 2016, TikTok has had two billion+ downloads (80 million in the Us alone), around 800 million monthly active users, across 155 countries, and currently available in 75 languages worldwide.

Fortunately, TikTok is free, provided that the users are at least 13 years of age. Hence, a good number of TikTok users are below the age of 30 years old.

Now let’s review what TikTok brings to the table, that makes it a stand-out opportunity for affiliate marketers and product owners alike!

1. You Have an Organic Audience

Organic audience reach didn’t start with TikTok. In fact, that’s one of the greatest innovations in the advent of social media. Put simply, there is no limit to the number of people you could reach when you eventually go viral on TikTok.

An organic audience, which is the number of people that can see your content without any monetary push from you, is one of such pros of using TikTok for affiliate marketing.

The free access to a larger organic audience that TikTok provides can also grow with ease because people who follow, like, or just in any way interacted with your content can inspire showing your posts to an, even more, wider audience.

Unlike in promoted reach where a lot of people get to see your post from ad views and impressions.

2. Best Targeting

According to Neil Patel, when you connect with the right people, you are then more likely to get high-quality, qualified leads that will turn into paying customers.

That’s so true because nothing is for everybody. TikTok as a networking service has just that nice concentration of the right audience by age group; people who will be willing and capable to buy.

Research published in April by the Pew Research Center shows that 48% of U.S. adults between 18-29-years-old use TikTok.

On the other hand, 40% of TikTok global users are basically of the Gen. Z generation (within the age range of 16-24 years).

That’s a bit limiting, but at the same time, tells you the kind of products that will make the most sales on this platform. Surely you shouldn’t be considering any Business-to-Business deals here.

3. An opportunity to Sell Anything

Now, if you do your research and define your potential buyers first before reaching out with an offer, then you can actually sell anything on TikTok.

It’s important to know that this notion (‘you can sell anything’) only holds after you have done some filtration to the people you aim to reach out to.

TikTok is that perfect window to show off your products in any form you deem fit as a TikToker, having reviewed your audience and what is likely to work with them, and, sell anything you have got!

4. Free Affiliate Traffic

A nice– or hot– twerk dance performance has made some of the first TikTok influencers and can as well give an affiliate marketer access to instant phenomenal traffic in a very short while too. That’s the power of social media.

We now have our world in our palms.

Just like that, free traffic on TikTok can be achieved with relative ease. No need for too much video editing or some vast search engine optimizations to border about.

How To Make Money in TikTok with Affiliate Marketing

1. Create and Upload Affiliate Promotional Videos.

This is not necessarily to create a 1 minute of pure product promotional hype. You’ll want to pair up affiliate marketing with your usual posts. This keeps everything natural and at higher odds of getting your first few orders fast.

2. Run TikTok Ads (may be ‘very costly’ though)

Affiliate Marketing on TikTok is probably a new venture for many marketers on this young platform. That means there will not be many people to listen to you off the bat.

The launch of your awareness on TikTok may require first running optimized advertisements.

Before you upload a video on TikTok, there’s an option to add a caption to it.

The caption is supposed to be a description of what type of video you are uploading. Additionally, this is a chance to include some affiliate links.

Note that short links perform best for this, so you may need to employ the services of link shorteners.

The Facebooks, Twitters, and Snapchats of this world are all social networking platforms and they share a lot of things in common. One of them is the ability to interlink to each other.

TikTok allows users to add other social media profiles to their accounts. This is an interesting feature to lift the limitations that may be available with TikTok.

As in, this allows YouTubers and bloggers to add links to other platforms where they can boldly monetize their content by any methods that fit best.

5. Build Your Audience/Fanbase

Many things will only work when there’s a market for them.

More followers will increase the odds of getting more bountiful revenue marketing on TikTok.

One aspect that will ensure success in TikTok affiliate marketing is a robust fanbase of followers. Hence it deserves some real intentional attention.

6. Announce Your Website During Camera Time

For users with upto 1,000 followers, you can add one external link to your bio on TikTok.

This can be a link to a clickbank sales page, a website url, a facebook page link, twitter profile, etc.

7. Share Your Referral Codes

Many affiliate programs and brands will allow you to create a referral code on successful registration to be an affiliate. With this, it’s easier to refer more people to a product/service.

To engage this method to monetize your TikTok posts, simply ‘shout out’ your coupon in front of the camera any time you shoot videos and you’ll be good to go.

Instead of giving out some referral or coupon codes, you can ask viewers to go to a URL in your Bio instead.

Links on your bio can be to a personal website or product sales page.

9. (Your Comments)

I haven’t given it affiliate marketing on TikTok a try yet, but it seems promising and viable, especially with more followers, a big email list, and channeled website visitors.

Go ahead to monetize your TikTok experience.
